Is the CHI hair straightener worth its price?
i really want it cus my hair is really curly and hard to keep straight and a lot of people recommend this straightener. and ive tried so many other straighteners that were cheaper but they never work. my mom doesnt believe me that the chi is worth how much it is. is it really as great as people say it is?

    Don’t believe the hype!! I have been in beauty retail for over 20 years and I can say one thing about CHI. It was the premier product when ceramic irons came out…but it is not any more. They have not advanced in their technology since they began.
    Just some facts…they are a dipped metal plate rod…less than three layers. They are the most returned because of mechanical failure out of all I have ever sold except hot tools.
    Two of the best irons are FHI and HAI. These are 3 and 6 on the HAI solid ceramic layers and they have a great return policy on them.
    You will pay more for the HAI…but the FHI is about the same as the CHI.
    Anytime a stylist or a client has used these irons they throw thier chi away in the trash. They just aren’t all they say they are.
    Do your research on these products. People only say they are great because they dont know any better. I have had full training on all these products…and as I have said…Dont believe the hype about the chi.

But I have personally never used one. The one I use on my hair is called HAI Stik. And I have been using it for 4 years and I love it. The problem with Chi straighteners is that you cannot adjust the heat setting. While they do get really really hot, you can't turn it down if you wanted to. She and my sister like the chi because their hair is VERY thick and curly and needs the high heat. But when I used it, it burned my hair because my hair is more fine and not as thick, and is pretty straight to begin with. I have to use one with a heat control. To me, the chi is only worth it if you have extreme hair, such as very thick or curly. Most of my smoothing action comes from the shampoo, conditioner, and product I use. And, FYI, mom and dad can get a better deal if they buy it online. Hey everybody! Well, I wanted a good hair straightener for my birthday, but I didn't get it… ANYWHO is the CHI flat iron good? Is it worth the money? Can I return it if i don't like it? THE QUESTION THAT I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IS IF IT WILL BURN MY HAIR?? also i dont want it to make my hair smell like anything just the shampoo i used. We use CHI at the salon. It is expensive but if you dont mind paying that much go for it. If the price bothers you then you can get a good straightener at Sallys beauty supply store for a better price and could work just as good as the CHI. I dont know about returning it, it depends on how the store works it returns and refunds. Any heat put onto your hair will damage it. That includes the sun and a hair dryer. Thats why you should sometimes naturally dry your hair and maybe have a leave in conditioner for the sun. If you're going to curl or straighten your hair get a Thermal polishing spray (mine is by CHI). Thermal spray protects against frizz, fly aways, and heat. Maybe you should look into that too if you're worried about damaging your hair while curling/straightening it.         Add to My Contacts Block User I just purchased the new Sedu …its the one that just came out. I received it today in the mail so I will try it out tomorrow. I don't know about the CHI…I have read good and bad reviews about all of them. I guess its just a gamble you take. I think they basically all are good ( the cheaper ones I would shy away from) if you haven't been to the website folica you need to go there they have tons of reviews by users on all of the flat irons.                 Add to My Contacts Block User Dollar for dollar, the original CHI has to be one of the best ones out there. I personally have a Sedu (got it as a gift last Christmas). I have 2 younger nieces who share an Original CHI. They have had theirs for over a year now. They decided to buy one after having burned out 2 cheapie models that they got at a drugstore.

                That being said, there are some advances with the newer models. The Turbo models have a variable temperature setting. This means you can dial in the perfect temp for your hair type. If you have normal hair than this is not a big deal, but if you have fine or damaged hair, you will want to start off on the lower temperature settings.

                The nano is a strange one. It gets its name from nano technology. There is something special in the plastic housing that prevents bacteria from growing on it. Unless you work in a salon or germs are a concern, then its usually not a big deal. Also, the nano also comes in a digital model that means you can control the temp very precisely.

                The original, turbo and nano all have a 10 foot power cord that swivels 360 degrees. This helps prevent damage to the power cord and can make it easier to use (especially at the back of your head).

                All in all, at $80 the original CHI is quite a deal. The turbo goes for $110 and the nano starts at $130 I think. I would say pick your price range and go for one. They do amazing results.

                        Add to My Contacts Block User GHDs are the best thing on the market right now. im not sure which country their manufactured in, either the UK or Australia i can't remember. They're better than the chi and last longer. You can compare them on Amazon.com

                            Add to My Contacts Block User Well in my opinion the original CHI is the best. I am a stylist and I have owned mine for about 7 years. I have ordered the new ones for my clients and there always seems to be something going wrong with them. I love my CHI!!!!

                                GHD are by far the best as a product although if not used correctly there are all bad, if you use a straightener regularly you will damage your hair, it will seal the cuticles (fibres) along your hair shaft, long term you will find your hair board stiff like.

                                You will find a lot of breakage small or short hair’s sticking up.

                                Try this look in the mirror with good lighting and you will see lots of short hairs, we hairdressers call it breakage and it takes years to fix.

                                Unfortunately fashion rules although style last forever.

                                Here is a thought, just because models with size 4 figures can wear hipsters doesn’t mean that it looks good on size 12, 14,16 etc.

                                Same goes for your hair just because a lot of girls can wear it doesn’t mean it suites every girl, you need to take face shapes, body shapes and personalties into account.

                                With all that said women will do what their want regardless if it stuffs their hair. And then will complain about the cost to fix it.

      Add to My Contacts Block User Best Answer - Chosen by Voters I personally believe that the other CHI models are a complete waste of money because the original is fantastic! I have had my for 2 years, and never had a problem…and I drop it all the time. What's nice about the CHI is that is can keep even the most stubborn of hair straight all day. If it does break, you can send it back in to the manufacturer and they will fix it or replace it for only $15 (as long as you keep the box). The second best CHI model is the Wet to Dry one. Your hair dries instantly! The original CHI runs about $149 and the Wet to Dry is about $199. The best sales on the CHI are at JcPenney, in fact on December 9th they go on sale for 20% off, and I can email you a coupon for an additional 20% off of anything in the salon.

          Is my Chi hair straightener broken?

    I’m from America and I bought a Chi Hair Straightener. I am studying abroad in England for 3 months and brought the straightener with me to us. I asked the people who work at the school about adaptors and converters and they told me how to properly plug it in. However, while using it, the straightener started to smoke and stopped working. I heard the wiring was bad at the school. What I am asking is, will it work when I get back to the states or am I S.O.L.?

      My hasband bought me a Chi from Target for $130. I read somewhere that the real Chi has a 3 prong plug, but mine only has the regular 2. It also has GLOBAL BEAUTY NETWORK, INC. writting on the top.
